Everyone knows that Apple’s App Store review process is a little messed up. You hear stories every day in several popular tech blogs, and there’s even a site where developers get to showcase their horror experiences.

A few weeks ago, I submitted an update to the very first iPhone application I made, iPrayer (iTunes link). iPrayer is a pocket collection of several different prayers, and now includes a nearby church finder. After 2 weeks of no response from Apple, I finally got the email telling me that my application update had been rejected. The email was actually very helpful and informative, but incorrect. They stated that when the device was in airplane mode, the application would just show a blank screen and become unresponsive to the user.

After opening XCode and not finding anything that could even relate to the problem, I decided to try an alternative. Package the application again, and re-submit for approval (without changing anything). To my surprise, the application was approved this time, with no hassles, and no questions asked.

So to the developers out there who feel their applications were rejected by mistake, just try again. You have nothing to lose. Oh and Apple, can we keep some consistency here?
